New Concert – ‘That’s Entertainment’

The Lowcountry Wind Symphony, under the direction of Donald, F. Jemella, returns for its second program of the 2023-2024 season. On the program for ‘That’s Entertainment’ is great music from Broadway to Hollywood, Sousa to Strauss. Well loved melodies from ‘The King and I’, ‘The Music Man’, as well as the film score from ‘Pearl Harbor’. Peggy Copley is the featured soloist performing Artie Shaw’s ‘Concerto for Clarinet’.

The concerts are free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

The Lowcountry Wind Symphony is a concert band made up of amateur and professional woodwind, brass, and percussion players form the greater Beaufort area. The group, founded nine years ago, continues to grow in both membership and musicality, now numbering some 65 musicians. LWS strives to offer the finest in literature for band as well as transcriptions of time honored classical music. Our programs feature music of many genres – from great composers of the past up to and including contemporary writers.

The final concert of the season is entitled ‘The Gift of Love’. Dates for that are Friday April 26, 7:00 P. M. at the Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton and Sunday, April 28, 4:00 P, M. at St. John’s Lutherans Church in Beaufort.
